Waiting and Cooking

While waiting for my editor, Jo, to finish with book 7, I have started some of the holiday cooking. Candied pecans, fudge, cookies and cake. I am hoping to make a few involved dishes and get the cooking bug under control. Fortunately we have enough people to eat the food I always yearn to make this time of year.

What are other people’s holiday favorites? Aside from the mulled wine, cider, hot buttered rum, I enjoy puff pastry creations, rolled and pounded meat recipes, and homemade noodles, dumplings and filled pasta. I also have a number of very interesting vegetable options. Yesterday I saw an old recipe for butter beer. I may need to try that too.

Happy eating, happy life!

I had lovely plans for Christmas Dinner – Individual Shrimp Cocktail, Individual Beef Wellington, Baked Potatoes in the Half-
shell, Asparagus, and – hours later – Mince Pie w/Hard Sauce. However, my diabetes is taking over and knocking most of the
goodies off the table – also, I may not be up to full strength for cooking, after emerging from the hospital! Plus a violent toe
infection! Am I showing my age? Booo! You’ll have to do all the cooking and eating for me! Enjoy it!

I inherited my maternal grandma’s recipes for baked goods and candies – and for enjoying them! I loved baking lots before Christmas.
    Not this year, tho.
