Two Species

Why did I decide to make dragons and humans so similar?

One of the most interesting things about humans is their inability to see similarities because they are focusing so intently on differences. Many humans find it impossible to identify common ground with others in order to get along simply because of religious, cultural, or philosophical differences. Not that those issues are unimportant, but we tend to treat one group as less human than others. It makes no sense to me. We discriminate over every little thing, deny people dignity, the right to life, freedom, employment, housing, equal treatment under the law, education, government protection, and civility all because they have a difference. Humans are not clones, we have many differences and variations within our species not counting our intellect. Within our intellectual capacity we have the ability to think on many levels and believe many things. None of that makes us less human. Using two species to show similarities highlights the flaws in human thinking that leads to discrimination.
