Two Dragons

Tyme and Scor were both newly mature dragons, searching for a territory, hoping to build their first nests. They had become friends as they wandered, and had decided to look for a territory that would accept them both. It was not unusual for friends to choose the same territory, but there was no guarantee that the territory dragon would want two new clan members. They had applied to two territories already, but they were not both welcomed.

”Do you think I am the difficulty?” Thyme asked, scratching the ground by the pool they had stopped at to catch some fish and drink their fill. Thyme was a dark brown with green ridges. He had a visible kink in his tail.

Scor shook his head, frowning as he flexed his tail. “The difficulty is in the territories we have approached. We need to be more selective.”

”Do you have a place in mind?” Thyme peered at him curiously.

”Do you remember the conversation about the Combined Territories?”

”Where the humans are part of the clan? You would have us go there?” Thyme sounded mystified.

Scor rubbed one of his nose ridges. “We should at least visit. I have heard that Grabon and his human companion are very picky about clan, but they accept visitors.”

”Didn’t the others say they had games, a full market?” Thyme frowned as he tried to recall the description. It had been some time and he had not been all that interested.

”They did say something about a market. Even if we are not accepted by Grabon, he might have a suggestion. I remember that many of his clan were friends before.”

”They were all fighters. I just remembered that they were talking about wagering on challenges.”

”So are we agreed? We’ll fly to the Combined Territories and see it for ourselves?” Scor asked, a glint of excitement in his eyes.

”One last adventure will be fun. I do wonder how a dragon gets to be one of his clan. Do you know anything about humans? I don’t think I have ever seen one.”
