Stick Figures

Athena is my fabulous artist, and if you haven’t had a chance to go on the website and view the art gallery, I really recommend it. She has done an amazing job bringing my character and setting to life using her own unique style.

On the other hand, my artistry is done in words, not with images, but early on I had the idea of character mapping and I knew I would need to differentiate between humans and dragons. I thought cute little stick figures would work. Instead of doing a google search and seeing if anyone else had tried to make a dragon stick figure, I of course started with a blank page. In the end I gave my ideas to Athena and she perfected them.

Then Shawn, my wonderful husband, had a seal made of the figure of a human and dragon stick figure holding hands, ringed with the words ”From the imagination of Julia Schmeelk” which I use to emboss books before I sign them. The stick figures have taken on a life of their own as one of my sister-in-laws made me a craft project using the symbols.
