Springing
My dad got 8 🐥 in early March. It is amazing how quickly they grow and hit adolescence. Currently hey all have feathers and are working on their crests and amassing weight. If the weather holds we are hoping to put them outside instead of under their protective heat lamp. Their tub is almost too small for them, and they are still under half size.
The amazing thing about chickens is that they each have a distinct personality. They are fun to watch and the behaviors that we judge humans over comes out very clearly in developing chicks. There are the mean girls, the wall flowers, the switches- the girls that will behave in any manner to fit in. Then the leaders emerge almost from the beginning. It is really interesting to watch as they try out different roles and adopt the ones that suit them.
I have always been a student of human behavior but studying chicks and cows has taught me a great deal about group behaviors and dynamics and why some children and adults have difficulty adapting and changing their behavior in an existing group.
