Spring Mud
If you don’t have a dog, a garden, or children in the USA you might not know that we are experiencing the miracle of spring. Plants are poking their little green noses out of the dirt, pushing aside rocks and old rotting grass clippings and leaves. Rain spatters down, occasionally pouring out of the sky, but wetting things down and keeping things loose.
I have seeds growing in the sunroom, flowers blooming and we are finally no longer freezing at night. That being said we haven’t planted anything besides the bulbs yet. But we got the first plowing of the big garden done. In a few days we’ll get the corn, lettuce, radishes and other cold weather plants in as our other seeds wait for the ground to warm.
But the mud… the mud on the shoes, the mud on the floors, the mud on the tools. It’s crazy how muddy everything can get. My clothes, my hands, under my nails. Yesterday I found some mud in my hair.
So I am wishing everyone a happy, healthy spring and may you be successful in keeping the mud contained. Years ago I had a friend who suggested spreading grass seed inside because the mud was so bad. I may need to rethink that.
Happy planting! Happy harvesting!
