Sound Barriers
I have a loud voice, that isn’t even much of an opinion as it is a fact. It can travel great distances outside and in a confined space, my voice will bounce off the walls. As a teacher it was an asset as well as a liability. Being loud does not mean everyone can hear you. We are currently living in a house with walls, barriers to sound. That creates all kinds of trouble as my husband and I are used to being able to speak to one another from all over the house without any trouble. It is hard to remember that it is not an intentional ploy to make someone get up and move closer when they shout back… “I can’t hear you!”
To make matters worse we have two air conditioners and five fans hummming all summer long. The noise level inside is deafening, but it is so much better than the heat and humidity outside that it is hard to complain. Meanwhile we both feel as if we are growing deaf, all because of walls.
