Sleep Deprived
At various times in my life the fan of events takes on a life of its own and increases speed. The only way to keep up is to deduct time from sleeping, which I happen to enjoy and need to function at peak. So for a few days I enter into this cautious fog, but I can accomplish a great deal.
When I rough draft, I do so in great gobs of energy, sleeping very little until the story is down and finished. I usually work in 18-22 hour bursts with 4-8 hours of sleep in between. it can take me a weak to recover after drafting a book, one of the reasons I have not attempted to do it since I started working again.
Generally when I am not in a writing schedule I get between 6-8 hours of sleep and function well. My busy schedule has me going for 12-13 hours a day before I hit home for dinner. Shawn and I do what we can to have quality time together, even if it is late at night.
This past week everything turned upside down when Shawn got ill and I was up and down with him. He has been recovering well, passed that kidney stone, and I am still fighting the sleep debt. Does anyone know where I can purchase a few hours of sleep?
I’ll eventually catch up to myself, but there are so many things to do and never enough hours to sleep. What was the craziest thing you have done to stay awake when you should have just crawled in bed and slept?
I have not mastered the art of sleeping on my feet but I can sleep almost anywhere else. I suffer more from chronic exhaustion due to insomnia. Hoping Shawn is much better and you both are well.
We are both recovering and treading forward. Here is to wishing you a good night’s sleep! 🤞
