Sick and Tired

Like a lot of people during this season of changing weather, I have come down with a cold, sinus infection, sore throat, body ache, and generally tired of feeling icky. Also like most people I medicate and move on with my day, because I need to work to make money to buy things. The people who dispense the advice of stay home if you don’t feel well, obviously don’t work for a living. It would be nice… or maybe it wouldn’t. What would that even be like?
If I wake up with a stuffy nose, call in sick and let someone else pick up the pieces? Headache? Stay home and feel it all day long instead of medicating and working? A little nauseous over my morning tea and call off for the day and crawl back into bed? Doesn’t this sound like the depression is winning? Like self care becomes the excuse to imprison your productive self in a suffering body?
For me anyway, distraction, production, self satisfaction beats suffering every day of the week. I stay home when I cannot get out of bed, but until then I get up and go because that is what I do. But my dragons… Yes my fine winged friends get sick as well as injured, have bad nights, wake up with stiff necks, and even occasionally catch a flu. They also medicate when they can, rest when it is needed, and carry on to the best of their ability. At the start of The Hunter, Starseth has a nasty case of the flu, Brom is tired and worried about his darling daughter, and the clan offers as much help and support as Brom allows. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be a dragon with a sick child, you might find it fascinating.😉
Happy reading, and stay healthy.
