Shipping Packages

We were doing most of the last of the shopping, getting the boxes together to ship gifts to Alaska. For those who don’t know, the trick is to get gifts that wrapped will fit in a flat rate box, otherwise you basically pay by the inch and the pound. The flat rate is the way to go, but it has to fit in the box.

So when shopping, you plan the box. The wrinkle comes in when the post office has less boxes, different sizes or is missing sizes. One year when we were shipping to the lower 48, no large boxes were left on island. It made us crazy. Today the post office had every size box, but you had to ask for the larger ones.

Tomorrow we wrap, box, and ship. Then only family that is here remains on the list. Decorations are up, once the packages are mailed, we are ready for the holidays! Maybe we’ll even send out a few cards, or maybe just e-notes and good wishes.
