Relationships
There are a number of different relationships that are important in the NewEarth Series.
There is the sibling relationship as you see with Jamie and Janie, the sisters. Tad and Hess are a set of brothers where you see a bit of how they relate to one another, and of course in book 6 the reader is introduced to Taz and Lars. The dragon sibling relationship, called nest mates, is not that different except that they are not as close in age. Dragons rarely have a sibling close in age because most dragons only have one youngster at a time in the nest to raise. The forming sibling bond between Pia and Tria is I think a favorite among readers.
Another relationship that gets highlighted is the companion bond. This exists between two territory dragons and allows them to cross a single tendril of power establishing a permanent mind link so they can share thoughts more fluidly, strength, and power. It is intimite, but not like a mating bond which links everything. The best example is Grabon and Heron, but as you continue to read the series, you will see more.
The mating bond, an instinct that kicks in linking two lives, thoughts, emotions, and dreams. It is a psychic bond that is controlled by the planet as well as the individuals. If a mistake occurs during the bonding process, both parties could die, be left emotionally, physically, or mentally unstable. Or if the bond is successful the couple can become stronger, dedicated, and merged.
Friendships are important. Wheather the friendship between Trissy and Hanna, or Pia and Hanna, those friendships influence how people react and respond. Pia and Dotty have a special bond over music and their youth. Lots of individual friendships are highlighted both between human characters and dragon characters as well as those that cross species lines. Some of the most obvious friendships are Jamie and Hanna, Pia and Trissy, Brom and Griss, Pit and Thane, Grabon and Rok.
Lots of relationships influence my characters because in life, many relationships influence our behaviors. Happy reading everyone!
