Mammalian Dragons
With two opposable thumbs on each hand and two more thumbs on each foot, claws that are strong and sharp enough to rip and strip meat from bone, the dragons of NewEarth are well adapted to life on their beloved planet. They have a mane of fur on the back of their heads, moving down their necks and they use psychic shields as a form of protection from the elements. Their shields serve the same functions as human clothing; sometimes warm, or cool; waterproof and even protective from injuries.
NewEarth Dragons are not similar to fire breathing beasts of OldEarth legends and myths. As a matter of fact, if the first humans had not been so scared from barely surviving their first storm and so shocked to see a flying being, larger than themselves, they might have called her something else. They certainly would not have blindly attacked her and convinced her that the humans were lesser being, brought to their planet to ensure human survival against a threat more advanced than themselves. However, once called a dragon, the name stuck, and by the time Heron met Grabon, the idea of a dragon had changed in the collective understanding of the humans of NewEarth.
