Lights of the Season

One of my favorite things about December is all the holidays. Everyone manages to find a reason to celebrate, put out some lights, illuminate the porch, lightcandles, build a fire, and in general gather with friends and family. It truly is a magical time of year when so many people of so many different cultures and faiths are all celebrating something.

I love driving around in the day, taking in the decorations and peeking into people’s lives, then taking the same route after dark to see how they light up the night. We are all unique, all expressive, and there are so many ways to celebrate and express ourselves that it has become revealing.

This year we are really seeing some new creative light displays and decorations. It caught on in a big way during the pandemic and has continued. They never fail to make me smile and renew the excitement of the season. We love Christmas, Hanukkah, the New Year, and the Winter Solstice, but no matter what you celebrate or how, I wish you joy.
