Weak or Strong
Hanna is a character that grows through the series. For many readers they see her as weak-willed, too quiet and easily pushed around by Gordon. By the end of book 1 Gordon’s Pride, I hope your opinion of her has begun to change. As you read book 2 even more change will happen, but instead…
Decorating
How many of you decorate all out for the holidays? Well, I tend to do it in stages, a little here, a little there but of course it all comes down at once, making for a very depressing day. However we are on the happy side of the equation and I have my bell earrings…
Mushroom Balls
This is a treat I make rather often. Clean mushroom caps. Grind fatty meat, or lean meat and add fatty meat. Spice to taste and make small meatballs and place in mushroom caps and bake until cooked. Top with cheese for variety. Yum!
As the holidays approach
I am collecting favorite holiday recipes, so feel free to send me any that can be made with no processed ingredients so I can use them in future books for special occasions.
Mapping the territory
While my artist Athena works on mapping the territory, I would invite readers to give their ideas of what they think it should look like. For the first and second book there is a growing list of features including the village, farm, hut, nest, sister’s house, forests, fields and cattle. There is also the Taylors…
Brave Bulls Square Off
We live on a farm and our front porch gives us a great observation platform to watch the happenings and write dialog. The other morning the two bulls went head to head. One of them is significantly older and bigger than the other and always, always wins. It may be a year or two before…
Breakfast at McDonalds
If you haven’t noticed, I do a lot of cooking. It is one of the elements that comes through in my stories, but I enjoy eating when someone else does the work. This morning we happened to be out and about and stopped by McDonalds. Since we were not in a rush or headed down…
Tall grass
Many people have never seen grass in a fully natural state on earth, so it is no surprise that they are disoriented by the tall grass on NewEarth. The grass in an open field that grows in full light averages seven feet tall in full summer, unless it is trampled or cut down. The pictures…
Heron
Grief is always terrible and profound and Heron’s must have been devastating when one considers his youth, the loss of parents, cousins, uncles, aunts and his betrothed. To make matters worse, we find out that Heron was always regarded with a certain amount of suspicion because of his talents and power. In Gordon’s Pride, we…
Friend of a friend
She likes it! A friend of mine gave the book as a gift a couple of weeks ago to someone I don’t know, but yesterday she got a text, that she liked it! Yep, I am thrilled. I love hearing It!
Morning bread
Does anyone have a favorite recipe for breakfast food that can compare with Morning bread in the book? Being limited to OldEarth ingredients, I think the closest comparison is cinnamon bread with raisin, nuts and apple. If you have never tried it, I highly recommend it.
Feehan
Everyone has a favorite author, but since I read so much, I have several. Feehan is on my favorite list and has been for a long time. I love all her series, but I am especially fond of the Game Series. I find myself with two hours of extra reading time today and I am…
