Insect Swarm

New Earth has some nasty bugs, and there was at least one swarm that locked all the people, dragon and human inside their shields. The idea of an insect swarm was taken from a locust swarm that I witnessed in southern Illinois when I was in college. It was huge, and unlike anything I ever experienced.

The bugs came in with a resounding crash, flying into obstacles, covering window screens and blocking out the sun. They ate every green thing they could, including green paint off of every sign. Their little round winged bodies covered walkways, grass paths, trees and doorways. They are, molted, ate and three days later rose up in a buzzing mass and flew off.

It was amazing!
