Injuries

A couple of weeks ago I twisted my knee. While the injury is just enough to be annoying, I have spent a considerable amount of time playing with the idea of a knee injury for a dragon. The twinges and hurt from landing, the drag of it being awkward in the air, throwing off steering, and the sharp sting with every landing. The shift and ache while sitting on ones tail, much less standing. Imagine the ache while perched on the edge of a visitors nest. No wonder they always have some part of the nest edge with a wider grip reserved for youths and older dragons. The young and injured fighters can find their own place to recover.

Knee injuries are never convenient, not for humans and not for dragons. Look for characters in my books that experience such simple challenges and find some ways of coping.

If life gets hard, pick up a book and read to a happy place.
