Humility
As you may have noticed, humility is not a common trait among dragons. It isn’t real common among the humans of NewEarth either, but it is even rarer among the dragons. When it shows up in Brom when his friends go to rescue his daughter, Starseth, it is almost surprising.
But under that same streak of humility is an very deep layer of confidence. He is a dragon who knows his purpose, his loyalties, his thoughts, and his priorities. Do they change as he grows? Of course, and he has no trouble admitting when he has rethought an idea, like keeping his nest traditional. In the beginning he thought Starseth should know and be familiar with a traditional nest no matter how untraditional their territory was, but those ideas didn’t last.
The same is true about his idea of what kind of mate he wants. After he meets Mox, he knows that she is everything he needs, even if she is very different. But he is also aware of her feelings, her fears, and concerns. He is not dismissive of her issues and he finds he has a few concerns of his own.
I’ll leave it to the readers to say what they think of Brom by the end of the story, but I would guess that they may have gained some insight into his character.
