Happy New Year’s Eve
Since we are not the go out and party, drink and dance sort; we are planning a culinary experience, story time, and shared company to bring in this new year and send out the old. Joining us are our adult nephew and niece and we hope to see midnight before I turn into a pumpkin and fall asleep. It will be a race for sure.
No matter how you end the year, I hope some story elements are present, a bit of romance, some mystery, a little culinary delight, and giggles and laughter never hurt anyone. Be sure to wish people well, text your people far and wide, in all the corners where our loved ones live, and across as many time zones as necessary. Because one of our unifying factors of being human is the need to connect, to celebrate, to share our joy, our sorrow, and our anticipation of something new.
I hope this next year brings us all closer to our humanity. I hope it lets us feel connections across time, space, borders, and cultures. May we gain strength from our shared experiences, comfort offered and comfort gained, and discover new pathways forward. I wish everyone could sink into a story that highlights the good, that gives hope, that promotes justice, and that makes them revel in the joys of our shared adventuring on the same spinning rock in space.
Happy New Year’s Eve! A time to remember, anticipate, and sugarcoat the past.
