Fairytales
Writing utopian novels for adults is interesting. When I tell people I write adult themed fairytales, the smirk they get let’s me know they are envisioning puff porn with some old themes or names. I usually laugh and tell them it is all about dragons and humans learning to get along in a combined society. The next smirk makes me shake my head. There is romance, even a little sex, but not between humans and dragons, between mated pairs or romping pairs for learning, fun and pleasure. Don’t make something dirty out of a biological attraction. Then I realize I sound a bit like one of my dragons and I shake my head.
My books are about life, living, fighting injustice, losing, and getting up to fight again. They are stories of strength, weakness, injury, overcoming obstacles, and love. The dragons and humans all need acceptance, family, a place to shine and a place to heal. They portray a hopeful world with an emphasis on dignity, learning, love, and acceptance.
It all starts with a human Farmer named Gordon saving a woman he doesn’t even know, but Hanna somehow manages to befriend a wild human, Heron, and his dragon companion, Grabon.
