Drive Ups
We recently found a Subway with a drive-up window. Instead of a speaker and menu outside, anchored to the ground they had a touchscreen. Place your own order, make your own mistakes. Then you drive over to the window and pick up your food, already made, bagged and ready for you. It was fast, and it was wholly unfamiliar, but it made us remember all the different fast food places we have seen, all the different methods of delivery.
Where Shawn grew up there was a place called Woodies. Basically they had two things: small chickens cut up and deep fried and fries. You could get a box of 4 pieces of chicken, with or without fries and soda. He remembers sitting in the front seat of an old truck with his dad, driving up to a window on the store and calling into the window their order, and someone passing their small white boxes back to them. Not really all that different.
