Dragons of NewEarth

A dragon is born into a maternity nest, a place of peace and comfort, guarded by the territory dragon and her mate. As soon as the mother is well and no longer in the care of healers and able to fly the new born and mother fly back to the family nest. The infant will generally not leave the nest until he or she is able to fly sometime before fifteen cycles. While in the nest a youngster learns all he or she needs to know about being a dragon. They learn to wait, to listen, and to participate. Each nest is structured differently, but dragon life is not filled with instant activity, rather they are given long periods for self discovery and the examination of ideas. Some dragons are more intellectual than others, but all dragons consider themselves to be the chosen species, for they are the guardians of the planet and all her great power.
