Dragons
The dragons of NewEarth are not clever beasts, they are intelligent beings. They are very similar to us, with a wide range of intelligences within their species, but all capable of some deep thinking and analyzing.
One of the valued skills among dragons is deception. While humans value truth, or the facsimile of truth, depending on how cynical you are. To dragons being able to deceive and do it well is a time honored skill, one that has promoted survival.
Truth has its place among mates, within a friendship, even within a clan; but deception is fun, a necessary and desirable trait for almost everyone. It is one of the many character traits that is praised as a young dragon becomes a youth.
Grabon and Heron’s strong combined ability to read motives and actions from the past becomes invaluable when dealing with well developed deceivers. They do still run into trouble with that, but they generally prevail.
Under Grabon’s leadership, do the humans in his clan adopt his admiration of deception? Is it a step away from their humanity? Is it a skill they know before joining the dragons or one they need to learn? Is it possible humans foster deception as a skill, but deny it?
