Dragon Sensibilities
If you have been following the series, you realize that while my mammalian dragons think modesty is ridiculous, since everyone is naked under their clothes, they have other sensibilities different than humans.
Dragons often conceal their bonds, certain talents, or even skills. They hide friendships and and in some cases the location of where they sleep. They can be quite secretive and protective of themselves and those they love.
In general, dragons are known to find slugs disgusting. In some cases they even think that certain animals are too stupid to eat. Some of the species are quick to judge humans in terms of their lack of service to the planet or other dragons.
Particular parts of the dragon anatomy are sensitive, especially the tail and toes. That makes this plan particularly diabolical. Someone was telling me about accidentally stepping on a mouse and squishing it between their toes when they were a young adolescent. It was the stuff of nightmares, and it was told with many winces and expressions of disgust. Naturally my mind took a different path.
So I am planning a scene with one of the large fighting male dragons where he accidentally steps on a small critter and it dies between his toes. Unbalanced, bleary from sleep deprivation, this large male has a complete meltdown while hopping on one foot, because the small creature squished and bled out between his toes.
I have not written the scene yet, so which dragon should I do this to?
Any of them. It will be too terrible to contemplate!
