Different

Having taught high school for so many years, I have a unique perspective on human nature and behavior, because teens often do not have the civilized veneer of most adults and they say what they think. That being said, the drive to conform, to be the same is hard wired into our instincts. Even when teens choose to rebel they choose nonconformity in socially acceptable ways, at least among peer group norms. Within Gordon’s Pride you see a theme that develops over the course of the NewEarth Series, that different is not wrong. All of the key figures in Grabon’s territory are different in some way setting them in some cases outside the norm and causing them to feel isolated. Can you determine all the ways that Gordon is different? What about Heron? Is Grabon different?

I find Gordon to be an Alpha-male, Type “A” personality, but with uncommon reservation for one of that personality type. Gordon appears to enjoy seclusion from populated settlements, and would rather keep only a few select friends in a close relationship. Because of this preference, he has a strong relationship with Heron who appreciates seclusion and, by proxy, Grabon.
