Communication

One of the most challenging parts of being human is mastering communication. I allude to the difficulties in my books, but I live the challenge daily. I know of a number of people who simply assume that everyone follows the same verbal routines as they do and proceed from there, adding it to written language and all other communication. In heir case, ignorance forms a protective bubble I envy. In my case, I am attuned to nuance and so I see the discrepancy. My husband and I frequently find ourselves speaking, but on two different subjects and annoying each other for no reason. A little clarity goes a long way. Add to that mix auto correct, slang and the nonverbal shifting language signals and we are a mass of contradictions and it is a wonder we can get directions to the bathroom without piddling on the floor.
