Colors and Markings
If you have seen any of Athena’s amazing illustrations of my characters, you might have noticed that dragons have a number of very interesting colors and markings. Mia tells a good story about how those colors and markings came about, but much like skin color here on earth, it is inherited and doesn’t mean very much.
Like the younger dragons looking for excuses to feel superior, there are always some who want to make up false justifications as to why one color or marking is better than another. But it is all foolishness, just another excuse to misbehave. Colors and markings are just colors and markings.
Although for Griss and Redseth, having the same colors and markings allows everyone to identify them as father and son. Pia and Tria’s Marking and color similarity allowed people to realize they were siblings. So the colors and markings, features and genetic traits do have a visual purpose after all. They help cement some family ties.
However, if anyone were to be so foolish as to not recognize the ties of Grabon to Zack or Tria simply because their species, colors, and markings were different, why I don’t think the mighty territory dragon would take that well at all.
