Characters

With every character I build for the NewEarth Series, I try to leave plenty of space for the reader to add their own interpretation to my descriptions. To that end, I am uninclined to correct the pronunciation of names, or give clear and precise facial descriptions.

Athena adds to my descriptions, but she makes an attempt not to flesh out the characters features too much, leaving each reader to add those details for themselves.

Personality features are different, whether human or dragon, I attempt to build each character with realistic precision. Hopefully they seem real and plausible enough for people to relate to them.

It was a challenge creating dragons that were relatable, yet different. One of the most complimentary comments I have had was from a reader who said after the second or third book it was too easy to become confused about who was a dragon and who was human. They were glad I added the species to the character charts. I took that to mean all the characters were relatable.

Someone asked me if my dragon species on NewEarth was symbolism for race here on earth… and I laughed. Of course it is. It is symbolism for differences of all kinds, what people think of as other. If one wishes to analyze my stories, there is a ton of that to interpret. However it is also just a good story, or it was intended to be.
