Blue Sky
Today we have a bright blue sky. It has been dreary for a few days so when it emerges, it is always amazing to see. We are seeing that springtime blue, not the lighter winter blue sky nor the midsummer deep, deep blue.
In any case, it made me think of the green sky of NewEarth, where the suns hits the atmosphere differently and the sky is green. Yes two bright stars both visible during the long growing season and only one in darkest winter. Their full calendar year is 488 days, and a complete day would be equivalent to more than 30 hours. It is rarely full dark, but on those few nights when it is, nothing is moving about.
Darkest night, first sun up, brightest day, two suns up, and first moon rise are all signals I use to the reader to remind them they are in a different world. What other phrases have you seen from other writers to signal the reader?
Happy weekend everyone! Be sure to read a good book!
