Better and Better

I was feeling better, but I had an appointment with the doctor.

To keep the appointment or go to work? I tossed the imaginary quarter. Grabon caught it and suggested a healer’s opinion would be good.

“Recovery time is important,” Brom muttered.

“You’re not feeling yourself, yet. Better to find out why,” Grabon continued, nodding to his friend.

That was early in the morning. I went to see the doctor, a real one, not fictionalized or anything. In fact the same one I had seen before who had promised I would be healthy by now. He checked this and that, my heart, the chart. I am old and have been living this life in this skin for quite some time, so things sometimes go wrong. In this case I was experiencing asthma at the end of a respiratory virus.

Easy Peasy, I know what to do with that. I did what was needed and by afternoon was feeling better. Oh a bit of cough, a sniffle or two, nothing terrible, and I can go back to work knowing I am not contagious. I can hear my dragons rumble with approval. They are so fussy sometimes. I bet most writers talk with their characters, let them wander the hallways of their thoughts and sit on the couch. I should probably make them popcorn or something.
