Alternative Energy
Whether you believe in gravity, or not, you won’t float. The same is true of climate change, atmospheric toxicology reports, and many other environmental issues. You don’t have to believe. It isn’t going to make a difference. Well, except you’ll be among the first to die. But I guess you don’t plan to be prepared. You probably don’t watch for tornadoes during a watch either.
In any case, while I am not a ‘prepper,’ and do not see doom and gloom around every corner, I am aware of natural and man made hazards and I do plan for my own and my families survival. That being said, I live in the Midwest, with a basement. I use seat belts, I recycle garbage, I look for low essisions and energy efficient and when given an option, I go for alternative energy. That’s why SunRun and their deal is so great. We are starting with my folks house, putting solar panels up and generating power. Once their house is done we’ll let them do ours as well. The great thing about the deals they have, is they can be almost no cost to the home owner. You pay SunRun for the electric at a fixed rate and as the version of Com. Ed raises rates, yours stay fixed. Over time you might even save a few pennies, but you help defray the societal cost of moving from fossil fuel to solar by letting them use your roof. SunRun owns the panels, maintains the system and bears the cost. No fuss, no muss.
Now an alternative is to buy the panels and do it yourself. Bargain with Com. Ed for buy back and fuss with getting government pay back and push back on taxes and what not. Some people manage to navigate all of this and even make some money, but we wanted something simpler, but with the benefit of moving decisively to alternative energy, renewable resources, and cleaner living.
Of course getting in at the beginning, in this area is scary. Is the company a scam? Do they know what they are doing? What if the new system leaves us without power? Anything new is scary, but standing still and watching the world change around you only lasts for so long anyway. Someone has to be first.
As plans are made and instillation begins, I’ll tell you all about it.
