A Spy
If you can believe it I am working with a character with a bit of attitude.
Kerg is a dragon, he’s been a friend to Grabon in the past, but he’s been pretty distant and upset for awhile. He had a friend living between territories without the protection of a territory dragon who had a five cycle youngster in his nest. Demu was the youngster from a pairing between Kerg’s friend Joons and Tomu.
They had chosen one another, but no mating bond had formed. They established a nest outside a territory and did well together. When Tomu became pregnant they were excited and thrilled. But with no territory, no healer attended the birth and Tomu grew weaker and weaker after delivery and died. Joons survived and put his love in the youngster they had created together. He had many thoughts about taking his youngster into a territory, but none of the territory dragons he knew were willing to allow him to keep and claim his youngster. So instead, he secured his nest the best he could.
Kerg knew Joons and had known Tomu, and he was a frequent visitor as he was awandering. Well past 50 cycles, Kerg had not yet found a territory where he wanted to stay, but he was also determined to find a place for his friend and youngster. To that end, Kerg felt he should have been a territory dragon himself and he would have made a place for those who needed safety. It bothered him to the tip of his tail that the planet did not provide safety for those good dragons that did not live in a claimed territory.
On a terrible stormy night word reached Kerg that raiders were looking over Joons’ camp. Kerg went flying, fast and hard, in the hopes of intervening, but he was too late. Demu, that adorable youngster, was visibly battered and tossed aside. Dragon youngsters were fragile, so fragile.
Joons had suffered a broken back and wing. He did not live long after Kerg found him. But he passed his friend information on the attack. Filled with furry Kerg went to a council member demanding justice for his friend and youngster who lived between territories. Typically the council did not bother with dragons that were not settled in a territory, but for a price, this council member would send investigators to find out what had happened and seek justice for Joons and the youngster.
The price was to join Grabon’s clan and report any and all violations of the rules…
