Standards

Humans like to set standards, especially on NewEarth where survival is difficult and a struggle. Those who fall outside the standard with too much or too little are generally set to the side. Gordon has too much strength both physically and psychically. Heron is not only companion to a dragon, he survived a tragedy that everyone can see because of his hair. Both are treated oddly because of that. Tad and Hess are Farmers but prefer trade, that sets them apart from the others. Kev and Fin, even while young, have a tendency to go their own way and as their abilities develop it sets them apart. In Grabon’s territory there is a level of acceptance where different is not wrong.
