Mia meets Hanna

Mia approached the small human, hoping her extended neck and relaxed wings would convey that she was harmless. When Hanna glanced at her clicking nails, Mia was sure the fragile human would see the nervous habit as aggressive. Instead of backing away, Hanna stepped forward, took her hand and led her towards the structure Pit had described as a human nest. Mia turned and looked at Pit, unsure what she should do.

*She is worried that you are nervous,* her mate told her. Pit may have known these humans and understood them, but they all looked so strange to her. The huge male standing with Pit, grinning at his little human mate radiated the planet’s power, but he did not seem to have any problems with control. *Use my thoughts and understanding of the human language to communicate.*

*You say that as if it will work…* Mia snarled in Pit’s thoughts. But as she calmed and tried she followed his clumsy directions, and was able to understand the chatter coming from the human. The green sky had not changed, but Mia no longer saw a small chirping human, instead she saw a compassionate emotional communicator who lacked an imposing size, had a small unfortunate face, and had been born without wings.
