Plant Adventures

There was a plant sale. We went early on a Saturday morning, found some amazing plants, including a bleeding heart bush. I got everything in the ground and watered in before noon. Then we went shopping, picked up a few other plants and I got those in the ground in the afternoon.

Gardening is an adventure, will they grow or die? I start a lot of plants from seeds, bring them up that way, others we buy at plant sales, still more from a store. It is always a challenge to find the best place, give it what it needs and hope the deer, bunnies, coyote, or birds don’t decide it is tasty. I had some critter eat the stems of tulips and leave the unopened buds.

It makes me think of my character Gordon and all the other Farmers in the books. What a crazy way to live, growing the food that feeds everyone. What an awesome responsibility.

So give yourself a break, pick out a book and read, out a smile on your face. 😃
