Dystopian Stories

It seems that the world is filled with dystopian stories, those tales that highlight the bad, the dangerous, the mysterious ideas that hold civilization together making what is corrupt seem appealing, even normalized. Lots of people love those stories because they can be great fun and leave them feeling good about our society, which may be flawed, but it is not as bad as that.

What I write are stories that highlight the best of people, the richness of culture and society and show the positives of possibilities and the corruption and twisted bits of how we live. My goal is to show people how we could live, what we could ask of our leadership, and the dangers that are around us and how cooperation and teamwork can counter balance a lot of bad.

Our world is not perfect, but the possibilities for greatness are everywhere. Dystopian stories take that knowledge and twist it to an unrecognizable shape and make us look at what evil we can do. I’d rather look at what amazing things we can accomplish and write about those.
