Covid

We have seen so many people fall ill with this disease. There is so much false information, so much emotion thrown in, the situation can be terrifying.

Let me set a few things straight. The vaccine prevents the worst; death and hospitalization, not infection, not the ability to pass the virus. That’s why even the vaccinated need to mask up, keep distance, and wash hands.

Some people get the virus with very few symptoms. It passes through them like a butterfly. Some it rolls over like a truck, and still others get ripped apart like getting hit by a train. Step right up to the virus lottery folks, take your chances, see who gets rolled, flattened, or lightly touched.

One thing is for sure, when the virus fills the hospital in your town you better drive a little careful, watch for those deer, moose, or bears crossing the roads or you’ll be treated for your injuries in the parking lot in a tent. There isn’t a lot of room left for the usual, because all the Covid people took over the beds and space.

People want to argue the numbers, they want to debate what should count as a Covid death and what should count for something else. Anyone who lost their life from the virus should count. Anyone who died because they couldn’t get the care they needed. Then all the people who died avoiding the virus. In the end it isn’t John Brown’s death records that count, it is how many more deaths than usual! They didn’t have computers and daily reporting of case numbers for the Spanish flu, they used the death numbers and compared to average and calculated how many above average. When we look at that, we are undercounting.

So almost 700,000 dead is probably not all of it. And that is pretty darn sad, because that is a terrible number of loss in the middle of the fight. Yes the middle, because this infection is not just going to go away quietly. So please, do your part, wear a mask, wash your hands, stand six feet away, and avoid crowds. Help us help others to survive. “People are people, whether they have wings or not!”
