Responsibility

As an American, I believe in freedom. I support a person’s right to choose what they are going to do in any given situation. I also support consequences. If you choose this, that will happen. Screaming loud and long does not change anything. It does make you look funny, which also comes with consequences.

Typically American’s understand this version of freedom. However, this pandemic and recent leadership issues confused people. If a deadly virus is going around and certain people fail to take precautions… that can be sad. If someone willfully endangers others with their germs, that should be a violation of law. It has been with AIDS, just as drunk driving and distracted driving are crimes. You don’t even need to hurt anyone, ding ding ding, the consequences should be yours. If you test positive for COVID, stay home. If you feel sick, stay home. Stop spreading this around like a party favor.

Responsibility includes being a contributing member of society. That includes knowing when you should stay home. It includes protecting your neighbors as well as yourself using whatever means you have at your disposal. Washing hands, space, and masks seem to be the current favorites along with the vaccine.

For those who are confused about the facts, the vaccine boosts your own immune system beyond any natural immunity and helps fight off infection. Is it 100% if you act like a dope and get fully exposed? No! Can it keep you alive? Probably. Does it make you bullet proof? No! If you get shot you will bleed.

Choice is a huge thing to Americans, and I agree, we need to be able to choose, but please be responsible. If you bring the virus home, keep it to yourself.
