Books!

Someone asked me recently if my writing was successful. I guess I had not thought of it that way, or from that angle, and it made me grin. I have been successful in getting a story from my head into a format I am proud for people to read. I was successful in finding an illustrator who could translate my words into images others could relate to. I have been successful in presenting the stories with formatting and covers etc. but as far as making money? Well I am not opposed to money… but no, I have not yet hit those goals.

On the other hand, making money could happen another time, with the next book, or if I twist some new words into descriptions, change key words on the search engine, adopt a marketing plan, or some other strategy I have been looking at. Personally, I think my writing is successful so far, but I have a long way to go, with many more stories to tell, many new ideas to try and of course a hope to make a living off my craft.

Writing and publishing are two huge fields that both need to be carefully explored. I chose the writing first, to immerse myself in the storytelling, and perfect that. As time goes on, I am learning more and more about marketing and selling.
