Lasting Relationships

My stories are based on establishing long lasting relationships, an in real life I have plenty of examples to draw on. Both my grandparents had milestones marriages lasting fifty years or more and my parents just celebrated their 57th year together.

Dragons live longer than humans, so their relationships that last a lifetime can span 200 years. Not that it makes much difference, the principals are the same. Establishing a relationship that lasts for a lifetime takes a great deal of work on the part of the partnership. There will always be difficulties, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings, even when you share thoughts and dreams, memories and emotions, because no matter how much attention and effort you put into building a life with someone, you see the world through your eyes and they see it through theirs. Perspective leaves a lot of room for misunderstanding.
