Environment for NewEarth

If you look at Athena’s wonderful art and wonder about the wagons and giant animals pulling them, let me explain about the human commitment to a clean healthy environment. When the colonists left OldEarth behind, it was with a deep breath of free clean air. Portable water was costly, radiation winds frequently damaged and killed people caught unprepared. Other planets were being exploited to harvest resources and a select group of “Greenies” with throw back skills and a devotion to living with minimal technology were recruited from all over the world and sent on this expedition. It was a positive publicity stunt from a desperate corporation trying to salvage their public reputation after another environmental accident that killed a few thousand people.

This group of settlers was diverse in every way but one. They were all devoted to preserving the planet, any planet where they lived. The recruiting posters were blatant attempts to convince these “Greenies” that there was a place for them with clean air and fresh drinkable water far from other human consumers.

In the end, the planet bonded with the humans and they in turn taught their children as much as they understood as well as the idea that preserving the environment was everyone’s job.
