Reviews Arrive

As an author, I cannot stress enough how important reviews are. It is not just marketing or promotion, Amazon promotion or sales; it is about building confidence as a writer. Reviews tell the writer that they are doing something right, or they need to improve a particular area.

Today was pretty exciting. I got two reviews for Grabon’s Nest. One says the reader was able to download the book for free during a promotion and says it was a fun read. The other review is lengthy, but all positive. It talks about the utopian theme of the book and the building of a mutual species society. They are both fantastic, made my heart pound and sent me dancing across the kitchen floor.

For me, getting a single review for any of my books is exciting. I read every word, multiple times, and appreciate all the challenges leaving a review entails. I know that Amazon can be crazy about accepting and rejecting reviews, demanding that a minimum amount of money be spent and that the reader and author are not associated too closely. I know that people agonize over what to say in a review and how many stars they should give a book. It takes time, brainspace, effort, and extra planning. All those things make each review that much more special.

So for all of you who have written a review of one or more of my books, thank you! If you have enjoyed my books and for one reason or another have not left a review, that’s all right. If one book particularly touches you, consider leaving me a few words. I promise to read it.
