Sensers
This morning with a forecast of snow as a possibility, Shawn suggested we go over to my parents and help clear some of the ice away from the cars and from in front of the garage doors. We loaded up the heavy shovel, the tile scraper, and Shawn’s wheel chair along with a few other necessities. While we were there I was going to meet the guy who was installing the life alert system from Best Buy that my parents insurance is covering.
We chipped, scraped, scored and pushed at the ice until we were a bit frozen around the edges and then we went inside.
A very nice man was there and he went over the system with me, showing me how it worked. Using an app on my phone I can see where Mom is in the house, and decide if I think they should send emergency rescue if she presses the button and does not respond. They even put a senser under her seat cushion on her favorite chair.
It is a slick system and I hope that she never needs to use it, but if she does, I think we will be glad we had it in place.
As for the ice… well – with muscle, finesse, and a bunch of salt we managed to clear up a lot of it and hopefully make it safer for my dad to load and unload things from the car.
