The Hunter

I don’t know if you have heard, but The Hunter is scheduled for release in January. It is an exciting book featuring a Brom, a gray and white dragon, his youngster Starseth, and Mox, a visiting healer.

Brom is featured on the cover, holding a hunting knife. One of the things you find out about Brom in this book and in all the ones leading up, is that Brom is more of a traditional dragon than many of the others in Grabon and Heron’s clan. When he built his nest, knowing his youngster was going to live there, he wanted it to be more traditional. Little by little his sense of tradition has shifted to what the clan does, what their dual species society does and he has let go of many of the traditions that had previously tied his hands. However he is still the premier Hunter in the clan, his skins come out the softest, his meat supply is always plentiful and he supplies not only the clan with meat, but many of the food vendors in the market. He hunts, he fishes, and he is passing on those skills to Starseth.

Mox on the other hand is hunting diseases, she is attempting to eliminate certain diseases from the dragon population. She of course has heard of the humans, those who came in their flying baskets and took up residence on the ground in one tiny space on the continent, but she has never seen one up close. Naturally she is curious, but she is also single minded in her pursuit of a disease and determined not to be distracted.

Things do not go as expected when Brom and Mox meet, but I will leave the rest for you to discover on your own.
