Characters

The main Characters in Gordon’s Pride include Gordon, Hanna, Grabon and Heron.

Gordon is a huge man. His connection with the planet is intimidating in its strength. Even among the other Farmers he stands out. Because of his power, strength and size, most people are uncomfortable in his presence. In turn that makes Gordon less pleasant to be around. That subtle level of ostracism is one of the factors that drove him from all the established settlements to found the furthest farm.

Hanna is naturally a peace maker. She tried to make and keep peace in her first family, but it didn’t work. When Gordon finds her she is socially and physically isolated from almost everyone. Nobody knows she has gold, and if they did, they would hurt her as they took it from her. It puts her in a difficult position. If she buys or trades for more than she needs, she can become a victim…again. Instead she uses other skills and crafts her gold in secret.

Grabon is a territory dragon. He has known that for a number of cycles, but it is new for him to carry that responsibility when he claims the territory. In addition his bond with Heron and their time together has given him insight into humans. He has a number of friends, at the same time, he has always been different. Partly his bond with Heron made him different, but also because he has a deeper connection to the planet and a deeper commitment to her protection.

Heron has a tragic past. He has reinvented himself and become something very different from what he was. After Grabon claims the territory he has to figure out how to be honest with his friends after deceiving them. His power and connection are too strong for him to be accepted by most humans, he has learned to think like a dragon, but he is lonely for human contact.
