Porter
Porter came to the territory as a disgruntled human representative, hunting down LeeAnn and almost as soon as he decided to stay, he took on the task of helping out Zack. Little by little as he tries out different tasks Porter changes, his understanding grows and expands until he thinks he is able to represent Grabon, Heron, and the rest of the clan to outsiders. When he is finally paired with Lars to represent the clan and the two of them start to forge a partnership, everyone is careful to give them the space they need to make that connection. Porter continues to expand his thinking and his personal growth and understanding stretches even more.
The bond Porter forms with Lars, adds to all his other experiences to make him a fitting representative of the Combined Territories, as it is later recognized by the council. All that growth and change was needed to fit the job he was determined to take on, but was he led into it or simply given the opportunity?
Grabon saw in Porter a possibility. Heron was slower to accept that his cousin might be suited to the task, but he did not speak against him to Grabon. Instead he did what he could to help, as Heron does for so many of the clan. Then they watched, nudged and occasionally offered direction as Porter worked to build a place for himself.
When the dragon council recognizes Porter as Lars’s companion, they accept him as a representative resource of the council, expanding his role even more. For a human, discontent with representing colonies and settlements to other humans, he managed to find his place among the intricacies of the Combined Territories and the politically charged atmosphere of the council. One can’t help but wonder what he is going to do next.
