Lars
When readers first meet Lars he is a visitor while the clan is doing a fast harvest ahead of a swarm of varasious bugs. He helps organize other visitors to gather berries and onion, mushrooms, and tubers as food sources that the humans use and the dragons of Grabon’s clan eat as well. All that happens during Grabon’s Nest or book5 as I tend to call it.
Nothing of much note happens except you realize that he is baffled by the human concept of paying for work and receiving a portion of the crop pleases and confuses him. What was he going to do with tubers and berries? Then Gordon thoughtfully allowed them to trade a portion of that for a piece of cattle meat. That impressed him.
Like most dragons he was fond of the large animal meat, but seldom got it because an animal that large required preserving the meat and eating it in smaller portions. To do that, one needs a nest. Lars had not had a nest since he left his sire’s territory.
Unfortunately it was not a dragon custom to offer food for hospitality or even make it available for trade. His diet was often reduced to small game, easily caught and consumed.
The foods in the market intrigued him and he had already sampled a few and planned to sample more. Grabon’s Territory was seductive, but he was not there merely to enjoy the novelty. He had a mission.
