Questing

Not every journey in my books is a quest, and not every quest is depicted as a journey.

A reader asked me if I was deliberately writing quests into my stories, or if it happened by accident. I managed to swallow my tea and not spew it over my iPad.

Don’t get me wrong it is a great question because writers do write in things that readers see and writers didn’t, but the questing parts of my stories were deliberate from the beginning.

You see I was raised on fairytales. I believe in the power of questing for internal and external treasure.

Gold is always good, but on the journey learn something and enjoy, suffer, shiver or melt depending on the conditions, but participate.

Self awareness, Faith, Joy, love, all good things to quest for, but they mean nothing if they come too easy, so get out and hunt, turn over some rocks, do your exhaustive research and look around.

Questing is rarely about the object, it is about the path you take, your friends and companions and what rules you honor and those you break.

The search is more important than the find and that is very true in my life.

What I find in the physical treasure department can be stolen, lost, or broken; the journey, the path, and relationships always last longer.

I have enjoyed many quests, met many wonderful people, and grown along the way.
