Banks
We have a number of banks that we deal with, but we were thinking about opening a local account. My husband recently inherited some money so we had a check from the lawyer and it seemed like the perfect opportunity. We have been talking about consolidating and making it easier to keep track. Since the check was written on a bank with a local branch, we went in thinking we could scope them out, cash the check, wire some money, generally see how they acted.
Wow! Talk about disappointment. Now, the teller was great, friendly and kind, helpful even; but the banker who came out to speak to Shawn was snarly, rude, sour-faced, and flat out refused to cash the check or issue a cashier’s check even though it was drawn on their bank.
“We don’t have that kind of money for a nonmember,” she said.
Needless to say we went searching for an alternative. In our little town we found a wonderful bank with friendly people, responsive to our needs and they were able to make the entire process a pleasure. What a difference, and in the end so much more convenient for us.
Our money spends anywhere, we don’t pay for rudeness.
