Mia and Pit

After the newly mated pair had recovered their senses once the bond was complete, Mia introduced Pit to her territory dragon, Konos. Pit had met him before, and he expected the older dragon to offer him a place in his clan if for no other reason than to keep Mia’s skills close. He did not make that offer, not even leaving open the possibility for a request, but instead wished Mia good fortune and he hoped that the planet was kind to her. It was obvious he thought Pit was a mistake, but with the evidence of a new bond so strong, he could hardly say anything against the mating.

It was much later, as their thoughts were connecting, and they were building their nests, that Pit realized that Konos had asked Mia to live as his mate without the bond, forsaking all possible mates from her future. She had refused, holding out hope that Pit would return. The territory dragon had cautioned her about giving into impulse and indulging in useless fantasy when reality could be a lonely place for an isolated storyteller.

If Pit had know that she faced that kind of pressure, he might have flown back to her side sooner. However he was glad they had finally resolved their differences and he even had some grudging respect for Konos who had never found his mate.
