Instant Success
I know some people who expect instant success, who release their first book and expect it to pay for itself right away. They also expect that their first attempt at something ought to be enough to get the job done.
Don’t get me wrong, they are wonderful people and I am not complaining about them, but it must be exhausting. Or maybe I put more energy into being disappointed? I would be unhappy if I expected the world to function by my rules.
I do not live without expectations, we all have those goals in mind and I have never been a slacker, but instant success is a lottery win to me. It happens rarely and usually to someone else.
When I manage a success of something it inevitably takes struggle, sweat, tears, and tons of learning. While I love stacking the deck and doing much of that with planning, in the execution phase, I always have glitches, things that need some time to work out and adjust.
I love the saying, “Success uses the stairs, not the elevator,” because at least in my life, that has always been the case. However, if someone were to give me a piece of a winning lottery ticket… yeah, I would take that in a heartbeat.
